Field Day 2007
Every year, on the third weekend of June, ARRL holds its annual Field Day event. This is where Hams all over the US and even Canada set up emergency stations anywhere they deem fit to prove their slogan "Ham radio works when other systems don't! ".
Early Saturday morning, 730am to be exact, we met at Hall Ranch Park in Union City to set up the station for our RACES group we finished around 1130am, then it was time to rest and shower.
Then, I brought some friends to visit the PAARA Field Day site at the Bayfront Park in Menlo Park, they were at the same spot as last year.
After having dinner, I operated the Union City RACES phone station for part of the night on Saturday night. Making quite a few contacts ranging from W6ARA, which was the PAARA phone station just across the bay, to stations in BC, Canada!
Tiring, but definitely a lot of fun!

Upgrade
One year after I got my Technician License with the Sunnyvale ARRL VEC, I went back to get my upgrade to General. I've been postponing taking the test while I tried to get my Morse Code speed up to snuff, then the FCC goes and takes away the Morse Code requirements for upgrading to a General License.
I passed the test with flying colors! Just in time for Field Day next weekend too! This should be fun!
