Wireless@Borders

A couple of months ago, I found that there was an open WiFi hotspot somewhere near my friend's place, but the signal was very weak and I kept getting cut off. Now, I've given up on that, and I'm logged on to the T-Mobile Hotspot at Borders in the San Fernando Valley.

There's supposed to be a T1 connecting this place to the Internet, but so far, I haven't been able to see the full T1 when downloading stuff. But who cares? The signal is strong, and the connection is decent enough.

I also used the T-Mobile Hotspot at the San Francisco Interantional Airport while waiting for my flight back to Manila. Unfortunately, at the Philippine Airlines' gate, the signal was pretty weak, but steady.

T-Mobile offers $6.00/hr on-the-go plans, a $9.99 Day Pass, all the way up to $39.99/month unlimited access. So far, I've had the chance to use up 2 Day Passes. One at SFO and the other one here, at Borders.

So far, I haven't seen the need to get the monthly plan, since I do have DSL access at home, but there is a special plan of $19.99/month for T-Mobile subscribers, so that may end up changing if I find myself out of the apartment for extended periods of time. Who knows?
